Privacy Policy
The short version: Find the Nerd does not ask you to create an account, and we do not sell or share your information. The website keeps ordinary server logs, the game keeps your progress on your own device, and if you email us to be a tester we keep that email until testing ends.
Who we are
Find the Nerd is published by Space Nerd Studios, a d/b/a of Space Nerd Labs LLC. You can reach us at alf@findthenerd.com about anything on this page, including a request to delete information we hold about you.
The website
findthenerd.com is a static website. It sets no cookies and runs no third party analytics, advertising, or tracking scripts.
Like nearly every web server, ours records a log entry for each request: Your IP address, the time, the page or file requested, the response status, the amount of data sent, and your browser's user agent string. These logs are used to keep the site working and to see roughly how many people visit. They are rotated and deleted automatically over time and are not combined with anything else to identify you.
The browser prototypes store your best score in your browser's local storage. That value stays on your device, is never transmitted to us, and disappears if you clear your browser data.
The tester area
Pre-release builds are kept behind a password. When you sign in, the server records the username used along with the normal log entry described above, so we can see how many testers downloaded a given build.
If you ask to be a tester
Requesting a tester invitation means emailing us. We keep your email address, your name if you give it, and whatever you write to us, and we use it only to run the test: Sending you builds, asking follow up questions, and telling you when the game launches. We do not add you to a marketing list, and we do not pass your address to anyone else. Ask us and we will delete it.
Distribution through Google Play closed testing is handled by Google under Google's own privacy policy, and Google shows us aggregate statistics rather than your personal details.
The game itself
The game does not require an account, a login, or a profile. Your progress, scores, and settings are stored on your device. Uninstalling the game removes them.
If a future version adds anything that sends data off your device, such as crash reporting or leaderboards, this page will be updated before that version ships, and the Google Play listing's Data safety section will say so as well.
Children
Find the Nerd is a family friendly puzzle game, but it is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
Your choices
- Ask what we hold about you, and ask us to delete it, by emailing us.
- Clear your browser data to remove locally stored prototype scores.
- Uninstall the game to remove locally stored progress.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect or how we use it, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where the change is significant, note it on the game's home page.
